This special issue continues the collaboration between ENCoRE and CeROArt which started in 2014 during the 10th General Assembly of ENCoRE. A symposium, "Teaching Conservation-Restoration" was held in Liège (Belgium) for the occasion. The conference proceedings, edited by ENCoRE, were published by us.  This solution was repeated for the 11th General Assembly, this time hosted by the Hamilton Kerr Institute in Cambridge (UK), in 2016. The theme was: "Education and Research in Conservation-Restoration".

As we have already done for other symposiums or study days (ICOM-CC intermediary meeting, TALM), and as we will do for others (Vandalism and art, SRAL), here we are lending our pages to the partner Institution. The latter ensures the integrity of the scientific process. Thus, the ENCoRE Board has carried out a selection of students' papers and posters. The editorial work was carried out by Rupert Featherstone, Director of the Hamilton Kerr Institute in Cambridge, and Nico Broers, Professor of Conservation Restoration of Works of Art at ESA. The papers were assessed by the members of the ENCoRE Board and the students' posters were evaluated by their respective Institutions.

The main concern of ENCoRE – to develop training courses and research on conservation-restoration - is in line with the initial objective of CeROArt; therefore, it is our pleasure to also take charge of the publication of the Ulrich Schiessl PhD Colloquium organised by ENCoRE in  Litomyšl (Czech Republic -24-25 April 2017).

The call for articles for the next EGG issue, devoted to first-time publications by young Masters' graduates, has already been launched. This special issue will be published at the end of the year. For further information about the new conditions, please refer to the call for articles and the editorial charter, which has been modified.

Finally, all the issues of CeROArt that have been published will be subject to an analysis and a presentation at the forthcoming ICOM-CC congress in Copenhagen. It will be our pleasure to recall the history of our publication, its methodology and its results in a paper entitled How to encourage conservators-restorers to produce knowledge. The CeROArt “lab” – looking back at 10 years of experience. This will be the subject of a discussion in the frame of the Education and Training group.

The development of the review, created in an almost artisanal manner, which, in the space of ten years, has gained an international audience, has led us to rethink the methods of financing and working, more adapted to its future. We will reveal all shortly. However, new collaborations are already in progress, new participants have joined us: in particular, in the scientific committee, Julie Bawin, Director of the Art, Architecture and Heritage Research Unit at the University of Liège, and, in the editorial committee, Manon D'haenens, doctoral student in Art and Art Sciences specialising in conservation-restoration. We are happy to be able to count on their openness and competences in order to continue the adventure represented by our Open Access publication.

How to encourage conservators-restorers to produce knowledge. The CeROArt “lab” – looking back at 10 years of experience.
